OLIVE OIL AND LEMON

If you ever get an itchy scalp, this hair remedy may become your new best friend. Scalps can itch for many reasons including an allergic reaction to haircare products, stress, and dry weather. This olive oil and lemon mixture will reduce flaking and add some extra moisture for dry skin. Combine two tablespoons lemon juice (fresh is best), olive oil, and water, then massage onto your scalp. Let the mixture set for about twenty minutes, then rinse and wash as usual. The lemon will help exfoliate your scalp while the olive oil moisturizes.

as a face wash

As a face wash
Exfoliating your face removes rough dead skin and reveals brighter, younger-looking skin. But if your scrub is too harsh, you could end up looking like you got a bad facial. Try this recipe for a gentle, antifungal (read: anti-acne) face wash: Combine one tablespoon raw organic honey and one teaspoon baking soda in your palm and rub together. Then, massage gently in circular motions. Let sit for a minute and rinse thoroughly with warm water.

STRETCH MARK REMEDIES

STRETCH MARK REMEDIES

Wheat germ oil –
this oil contains antioxidants that are great for renewing the skin which makes it a very efficient treatment for stretch marks. Slow and steady wins the race with this stretch mark treatment.
Jojoba oil – this remedy is suitable for a number of different skin types so it is a great remedy for stretch mark. It is packed with vitamin E which is great for lightening scars as well as stretch marks.

Castor oil –
this oil is very viscous and so it is great for providing moisture deep down into the scar tissue making is softer, smoother and less visible.

Shea butter –
this has high amounts of vitamins A & E along with high amounts of fatty acids. This most often doesn’t cause any irritation and is a primary ingredient in a number of stretch mark remedies that are sold over the counter. You have to purchase it in its purest form in order for it to be most effective.

Cocoa butter –
this is a primary ingredient in a number of stretch mark remedies and it has long been used for this purpose successfully.
The thing that the majority of these treatments have in common is the amount of vitamin E they contain. This vitamin is essential for cell formation and regeneration and to get rid of stretch marks you need to generate new skin cells. If you do not have these items at home you can purchase them at your local beauty supply or other store that sells beauty items. You can also look out for skin creams that contain all natural ingredients and high levels of vitamin E such as Revitol Natural Skin Care.

Beauty Station (A Mobile Salon):
How To Protect Your Skin on HoliIf you have dry s...
: How To Protect Your Skin on Holi If you have dry skin you are lucky - smother a layer of almond or olive oil all over your body not miss...

How To Protect Your Skin on Holi
If you have dry skin you are lucky - smother a layer of almond or olive oil all over your body not missing out on areas like the ears, back of the neck, elbows, knees, lips and even on the eye lids. Since almond oil and olive oil are also good for skin so it wont cause you any issues. Oil will help form a layer of barrier between your skin and the chemicals. It will also help you wash off the colors more easily.
Oily skinned beauties can try almond oil as well - almond oil does not cause breakouts unless you drench yourself in it. Another option is to use any petroleum jelly to coat your skin, but be careful around the eyes.
Apply petroleum jelly lavishly on your hands and nails specially covering the area under the nail tips. This is where the color tends to gather and look awful when it does not wash off.
If possible wear clothes that cover as much of your body as possible - wearing full arm Kurtis with leggings is a good option.
Wear clear goggles or glasses to give some shield to your eyes. It is painful to have color, whether chemical or natural, to enter your eyes. It is simply painful!

How To Protect Your Hair on Holi
Whether you have oily hair, dry hair, wavy hair, short hair, long hair - it does not matter. No matter how hideous you look covered in oil - Holi is one time where the hair will suffer if you don't take precautions. So, before you step out with friends to celebrate, apply oil over your hair, covering it all and even the scalp. Then tie your hair in a plait if you have long hair. The oil again acts as a barrier between the chemicals and your scalp and hair shaft. Also it makes removing the color easier.

If you are planning on a hair cut - let Holi go by. Plan your hair cut at-least 2 days after Holi so that all traces of color are washed off well. Clean hair always makes it easier for the barber to cut and style to perfection.
If at any time during playing with colors you feel any itching or burning make sure to wash immediately with clean water. Also as a precaution, keep a bucket of clean water handy - I have known people scurrying for water to wash color that has just entered their eyes.

Summer is the season when you have to take special care of your skin. You may be surprised that your summer skin, which looked radiant throughout winter, suddenly looks dull, blemished and oily. This is because, in winter your skin's natural oils solidifies, whereas in summer it flows freely. It's estimated that 90 percent of wrinkles cause due to sun exposure. The sun's long- and short-wave ultraviolet rays, or UVA and UVB, penetrate the deepest layers of skin, damaging the collagen -- the spongy protein that gives skin it's structure, firmness, and elasticity. Fair skin wrinkles more readily than dark skin because it contains less pigment, which acts as a natural sunscreen, blocking some of the sun's damaging UVA and B rays. To prevent wrinkles caused due to sunrays stay out of the sun, especially between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when it's almost directly overhead and UV radiation is strongest. Stay in the shade as much as possible. And wear protective clothing and plenty of sunscreen. Strive to apply sunscreen 15 to 30 minutes before stepping outside. Sunscreen should always be reapplied after contact with water or after sweating. Sunscreen also should be worn year round--every time you leave the house. Shop for sunscreen that blocks against UVB and UVA rays both believed to induce skin cancer.

Smooth on a moisturizer that contains sunscreen in proper concentration. Put it on before you leave the house and reapply every two hours. Wear proper sunglasses (see our article on sunglasses) and a hat with a broad brim.

Moisturisation is the most important part of daily skin care. Your skin needs more water than anything else and moisturisers are more needed in summer when you lose most of your body salts by sweating. Buy a water-based moisturizer and use it without fail. Make it a habit to wash your face gently with water a number of times in a day (try and use mineral water). You can splash as many as 20 times as long as you don't use very hot or cold water on your skin (which can cause fine vein to appear on your face). Steam your face regularly to open the pores and clean your face of the dirt (five minutes for dry skin and 10 minutes if it is oily). Pat dry with tissue and moisturize.

Nail Care Tips

To harden soft nails, soak them in warm olive oil for about 20 minutes, on alternate days.
To remove stains from your nails, mix one tablespoon of lemon juice in a cup of water and soak your nails in this liquid for a few minutes. Then, wash off with warm water and apply a hand moisturizer.
It is not a good idea to remove the cuticles from your nails, as it will make the nail susceptible to infection. Rather, you should make use of good quality cuticle oil and gently push back the cuticles, with the help of an orangewood stick.
Try to stay away from acetone polish removers as much as you can and stick to the one that make use of acetate. Still, try not to use a polish remover more than once a week.
In case you wear nail polish, make sure to give your nails a break from time to time. In other words leave them without polish for a few days, every now and then. Otherwise, they will develop an ugly, yellow tint.
If you want to give a natural sheen to your nails, just like the colorless base coat, rub petroleum jelly on your nails and then buff them, with the help of a soft cloth.
If you have brittle nails or split or dull nails, then increasing your consumption of Organic Silica, Vitamin B (especially B5) and MSM (Methyl-Sulfonyl-Methane) will surely help.
Never ever resort to nail biting, as it is extremely destructive for the nails as well as the cuticles. If you are in the habit of biting your nails, drop it as soon as possible.
Whenever you wash your hands, while bathing as well as otherwise, make sure to dry the nails properly and apply a hand cream or lotion, using it on the nails as well. This is because soap makes the nails dry and brittle.
The best time to file your nails is when you are already wearing a polish. This will prevent splitting or breaking of nails.
If you have brittle nails, it is advisable to wear a nail polish, or at least the colorless base coat, as much as you can.

What Vitamin Should You Take for Hair Loss?

Vitamin A
Vitamin A is an antioxidant that aids in scalp oil production. It's important to note that excess amounts of vitamin A can have undesirable effects, by inhibiting hair growth, and can even be toxic.

B-complex
B12 can be responsible for hair loss by itself simply due to a deficiency. Frequently injections of B12 can resolve hair loss issues. It is not stored well by the body and is required for the body's use of oxygen and for metabolism. It is needed for activation of B6 and helps in creating niacin. B12 is most absorbable when taken with vitamin C and the daily recommended dose is 50mg.
B6 is also thought to prevent hair loss. It also aids in hair coloring and has a major role in creation of niacin, which is needed for healthy circulation. B6 must be entirely obtained through diet or supplementation because the human body cannot synthesize it by itself.

Vitamin C
Vitamin C is a natural antioxidant and helps maintain healthy hair. It aids in synthesis of collagen and is readily available in the diet. The daily recommended dose is 90 to 120mg.

Vitamin E
Vitamin E is vital to scalp circulation and cell regeneration, both necessary for hair growth. The daily recommended dose is 15 to 19mg.

Caring for your skin type

Caring for dry skin
Use a specially designed cleansing lotion to cleanse your skin, but leave it on for a while before wiping it away. Splash cold water on your face to freshen it. Use heavy-duty moisturizer which will help the skin retain moisture and prevent evaporation.

Caring for oily skin
Wash your skin with cleansing foam. It removes impurities, but retains moisture. After that, rub the skin with a cotton ball dipped in alcohol-based lotion. Even oily skin needs moisturizing, but the moisturizer has to be light. Dab away all excesses with a tissue.

Caring for mixed skin
Use cleansing foam to wash your face in the morning. This will keep the oily parts clean and prevent the formation of blackheads. In the evening, apply moisturizer to calm the dry areas.

Caring for sensitive skin
Never wash your face with soap. Use hypoallergenic cleansing lotion instead. Use a nourishing moisturizer and a lotion which creates a protective barrier to prevent irritation. Make sure that your moisturizer does not contain perfume.

Caring for normal skin
Wash your face with foam. While doing that, rub the foam in, massaging the face with gentle circular motions. Cool your skin down with a splash of cold water or lotion which does not contain alcohol.

4 Ways For Effective Skin Spots Treatment
1. Honey-cinnamon spot treatment:
Honey, known for its skin-lightening properties, successfully removes spots. Take a few drops of honey on your clean palm; add to it a pinch of cinnamon powder and apply over the spots on your cleansed face at night, before going to bed. Next morning, wash your face with clean water. This spot treatment slowly but effectively helps reduce the pigmentation and dark spots.

2. Lemon juice:
Lemon is a powerful, natural bleaching agent, and is one of our quickest bets when it comes to skin/ spot lightening. Applying lemon juice in its full strength can cause tingling sensation on your skin, thus use with caution. It is generally advisable to dilute lemon juice with other skin lightening agents such as honey to avoid any skin irritation. Especially in the case of sensitive skin, always do a patch test and wait for at least 24 hours.

3. Aloe Vera gel:
Another very effective agent for spot treatment is fresh aloe vera gel. If you are using the natural gel from the plant, cut out a 2-inch part of a leaf, split it into two with a clean knife, and directly apply aloe vera gel to your face, rubbing in circular motions. Leave the gel on your face for about 15 minutes (if you do not like the fragrance of the gel, spray some rose water on your face after applying the gel) and wash off with lukewarm water.

4. Raw papaya:
‘Papain’ enzyme in papaya reduces skin spots and renews the skin. Also, pulp of raw, green papaya has more Papain than ripe, orange papaya. So, cut out a one-inch slice of a raw papaya or grate some of it and directly apply to the face in circular motions. If your skin is not too sensitive, add 2-3 drops of lemon juice and a tablespoon of honey to it, apply to the face, and wash off after 15 minutes.

Tip:
When you use home remedies, store the products that you use in separate containers.
Do not use ingredients from the same packaging as the ones you use for routine cooking.
It is important to keep everything like bowls, knives and spoons also separately, sanitized and free from contamination.
Hope you all liked the tips, and will try them out. Let us know the results in the comments below.
